Teamwork between companies and diplomacy: the case of Italy

A study on the economic impact of the action of the Italian economic diplomacy showed that 756 projects undertaken by more than 330 Italian companies outside Italy have generated, with the support of the diplomatic network of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a 16 billion Euros added value

A study on the economic impact of the action of the Italian economic diplomacy, edited by Prometeia, showed that 756 projects undertaken by more than 330 Italian companies outside Italy - some in countries on the southern shore of the Mediterranean - have generated, with the support of the diplomatic network of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a 16 billion Euros added value, 1.1% of GDP, 6.7 billion Euros in tax revenues and 234,000 jobs, thus proving the increasing teamwork between business and diplomacy.

The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through its embassies, is also ready to launch a new cultural promotion project: "Vivere all’Italiana” (Living in the Italian way), an integrated promotion plan that will present worldwide the "Superbrand Italy", born from the idea that the global competitiveness is not only based on product quality but also on the attractiveness of the country-systems.

The results of the study were presented during the meeting “How important is the Italian economic diplomacy”, organized by the General Confederation of Italian Industry and the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, held in January in Rome.
