Transparency’s anti-corruption module goes at schools with Erasmus Plus

A new international appeal for the training activities of Transparency International Italy: this year, the NGO participates in the European program Erasmus Plus, with an educational initiative on legality for teachers and high school students

Since its founding in 1996, Transparency International Italy organizes meetings on legality-education for students and teachers (like the one we have described here). This year, the work for schools has a bigger importance: TI - It indeed participates in the international project Erasmus Plus (Innovative approaches towards teaching anti-corruption in formal education) that will involve schools and will make available educational tools on legality to teachers and students, both in Italy and abroad.

The initiative, funded by the European Commission, was held in partnership with two other offices of Transparency International Slovenia and Hungary. The project has educational value for both students and their teachers: students, in fact, will attend an educational module on legality, previously organized with the direct contribution of teachers that will also be involved in the testing phase in class. Transparency International Italy has decided to involve two schools belonging to very different realities: the Institute "V. Floriani "Vimercate (MI), due to its enduring collaboration with the Association, and the Institute" L. Da Vinci "of Lamezia Terme, for its remarkable participation in the photo competition "Sharpen corruption" in 2013.

To date, the goal of teacher training has been achieved: now, it is up to teachers themselves to test the module in the classroom next year, from September to June. The objective is to give a tool to all the other teachers, in Italy and abroad, within the end of 2016. Moreover, the project also includes exchange experiences among teachers of the three countries involved, a conference with the institutions of the education sector, a short film competition about anticorruption, which will take place between 2016 and 2017 and will have national and international winners.

The follow up of the project is available at https://www.transparency.it/educazione/

Design is a thought activity: we should not replace it with a mere “optimizing” approach, because it’s from imperfections that talent emerges.
