Design is a thought activity: we should not replace it with a mere “optimizing” approach, because it’s from imperfections that talent emerges.
“Whatever happens, in any case, you know what you should do and I am sure that you will do a wonderful job. [...] Let the children [...] be aware of their duties to themselves, toward the family in the transcendental sense that I have of the term, and toward their country, be that Italy or be that Europe”. These are the words that the Italian lawyer Giorgio Ambrosoli wrote to his wife, a few months before being murdered while investigating on the activities of the banker Michele Sindona.
Ambrosoli’s professional and human example, as well as his commitment in seeking the truth, have inspired the Prize of the same name, promoted by Transparency International Italia and by the Ambrosoli family under the distinguished patronage of the President of the Italian Republic, and sponsored by the City and the Chamber of Commerce of Milan.
The Prize has been awarded to “invisible heroes”, individuals or groups who stood out for their commitment against illegality, following the values of responsibility, integrity and professionalism. The 2015 Award ceremony will take place on November 23rd in Milan.
