Storytelling, memory and art: European culture at ICS Europe

Cultural heritage will play a leading role in the next ICS Europe Summit in Brussels: not only discussed and analysed by the speakers with a presentation on innovative projects but also celebrated with the exclusive photographic exhibition “Raccontare la bellezza” and the images of the Riace Bronzes

Not only a chance to reflect on heritage communication with the main contemporary sector experts but also an opportunity to actually admire two masterpieces of our cultural heritage: the ICS Europe summit will celebrate European culture in 360 degrees.

In fact, the summit will host the exclusive photographic exhibition "Raccontare la bellezza", with images of the Riace Bronzes taken by the Italian master of photography Mimmo Jodice. The classical art expressed by the two statues is the perfect crowning item for the issues and projects that will be discussed by the speakers, all related to European culture.

Spike Lee will reflect on how the movie language can build a collective identity and create a shared cultural heritage;  Michael Dobbs will talk about the European narrative tradition as a shared, value-related heritage; Yasser G. Aref (Alexandria and Mediterranean Research Center at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina) will illustrate the 3D project "International Augmented Med (IAM)", an historical reconstruction of Alexandria; Simona Panseri (Google Italy) will illustrate the Google Cultural Institute Project and Stefano Iacoviello (University of Siena) will talk about the #Inherit – PanSpeech project for the promotion of European cultural heritage.

Design is a thought activity: we should not replace it with a mere “optimizing” approach, because it’s from imperfections that talent emerges.
