Design is a thought activity: we should not replace it with a mere “optimizing” approach, because it’s from imperfections that talent emerges.
The contemporary art award promoted by the communication agency Pomilio Blumm, the Blumm Prize stopped in Udine last December 12th, surrounded by the beautiful Casa Cavazzini. It was a precious occasion to present the audience the winners of the 2013 edition, awarded last September 25th at the Italian Embassy in Brussels: Maria Elisabetta Novello and Michele Spanghero.
The purpose of this edition was to “fill the gap between institutions and citizens through art”. Hence the use of art as an open language able to rediscover ethical, civic and social values, at the heart of every society, and the concept of “transparency”, as a tool to allow public and private spheres of society to meet on common grounds in terms of communication and mutual trust.
In the evening, together with the two young artists, the Prize Director and President of the Pomilio Blumm Agency, Franco Pomilio, and the Prize curator, Martina Cavallarin, were welcomed in Udine by the City Councilor for Culture, Federico Pirone, the director of the Civic Museum, Marco Biscione and the curator of Casa Cavazzini, Vania Gransinigh.
Thanks to the winners and attendees’ voice, it was possible to understand the path, the experiences and the ideals of the twenty “under 40” young artists, who took part in the contest in Brussels. Moreover, the storytelling of artists’ experiences and paths reminded the most important aspect: the future of these young and promising artists.
